November 2009 Nightlife News

By Alexander Tichy

nightlife newsWell we certainly can't speak of hibernation. Many bars and clubs have already celebrated their openings for the winter season, but we still have to say goodbye to a few places that close for the winter. On November 1st at 5pm the legendary JOCKEY CLUB in Ses Salines will be saying adios for this year. The beach bar is sure to be filled to the rafters for this night. That's reason enough to get there early and enjoy the last of the sun's rays to chill-out music by DJ Lorenzo Al Dino.

However, the Ses Salines beach naturally remains a magnet for visitors all through the winter, so the
BOUTIQUE HOSTAL SALINAS is staying open. A cool place with a great atmosphere and friendly hosts - for people who love a relaxed but upmarket atmosphere. Lounge and bar are open throughout the day. The restaurant area offers a changing three course menu for 15-20 euros. Mondays there is pasta, Sundays they serve couscous. On Saturdays they celebrate with Flamenco straight after the jumble sale in Sant Jordi. At 2pm they serve BBQ, live music and great drinks, until closing late into the night. From Wednesday to Saturday the bar is a place for relaxed celebrations and a real insider tip. The establishment is located directly after the roundabout in the Salinas on the right-hand side of the road. Closed on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

Provided the weather co-operates, you can also enjoy the November sun every Friday and Saturday at
SCIROCCO on Platja d'en Bossa. Relaxed music and fair beach prices from 11am to 7pm are sure to put you in the right mood. The loungers can be used free of charge. Take a mini-holiday and stop by.

nightlife newsIf you are interested in catching a romantic sunset the perfect place for this is at Cap des Falco on the western side of the Salinas. The restaurant with its gorgeous view will remain open this year for lunch and dinner, which means the bar will be open too.

Chill out on the beach all winter long at
HOSTAL TALAMANCA from 2pm every day. Resident DJs spin and that beach feeling is in the air. If it starts to rain or gets stormy everyone simply moves onto the covered terrace or inside to the bar. They celebrate here almost around the clock. Closing hours are very undefined as, being a hostel, they are practically open 24 hours.

For all of the winter months the
AURA bar and restaurant on the Sant Joan road will be continuing to throw their successful DANTZ party series every Friday evening, when the bar starts filling up at 10pm. When the restaurant stops serving around midnight the dance floor starts filling up. Dance music plays until the early morning hours, with DJ Antz and 'special friends'. During the winter AURA is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10pm to 6am. Also on Fridays and Saturdays the BOMBAY LOUNGE near Pacha in Eivissa beckons. Cosy upholstered landscapes invite you to recline and stay for a spell with ambient music as the atmosphere in the cocktail bar is perfect. Formerly known as Santa Fé, this place is a place to be. The bar is open from 10pm till the wee morning hours.

nightlife newsNaturally
PACHA is open this winter. Every Friday and Saturday from midnight to 7 or 8am they'll be partying the nights away. Closing hours aren't as strictly enforced during the off-season. PACHA is guaranteed to be fun - many locals actually prefer it in the winter! The VILA CAFE on Plaza del Parque in Eivissa is open daily. During the off-season this is one of the island's most beloved places to hang out. From 10am until midnight you can eat, drink and be merry. If you can't find a spot with Horst and Enrique, then you're sure to find a spot at the neighbouring locations MADAGASCAR and LA PURA VIDA.

FOODISM is the place for Internet surfers to meet in Santa Gertrudis in the centre of the island. From 11am they offer freshly pressed juices and croissants. The lunch menu by head chef Mladen is also lovely and the kitchen stays open until 11pm. It's a shame that they close at midnight, as the places to go celebrate further in Santa Gertrudis are limited. For example, the upscale BACCHUS restaurant is open a bit longer. The violet floodlights are easy to spot from far away. The cosy impression deepens when you enter the place. A large couch and a few sofas make you feel right at home.

Those hoping to push their luck can visit the
CASINO DE IBIZA every day of the week from 6pm to 6am in the Grand Hotel on Paseo Juan Carlos I. They offer American roulette, blackjack, casino poker and slot machines. You can get food and drink all through the evening, night and morning. Be sure to bring valid identification and lady luck. No minors.
